13-12-2024: CRC Sikkim visit to Raj Bhavan Gangtok

Gangtok, December 13: As part of its mandate, the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation, and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC) Sikkim, Assam Lingzey, organized a visit to Raj Bhavan today. The Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim, Shri Om Prakash Mathur, extended his support to this initiative, reflecting his belief in empowering all sections of society. This visit was a part of the ongoing 70-hour Employability Skill Training program for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (PwID), organized by CRC-Sikkim.
The Employability Skill Training for PwDs is a flagship program under the Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MSJE), Government of India. This initiative aims to equip individuals with essential skills to enhance their employability and social inclusion.
The visit to Raj Bhavan, one of Sikkim’s historical and heritage landmarks, provided valuable exposure to the differently-abled participants. The Secretary to the Hon’ble Governor, Shri Jigme Dorji Bhutia, along with officials from Raj Bhavan, played a pivotal role in facilitating the tour and ensuring that the participants had an enriching experience. The visit was further complemented by a gracious high tea hosted by Raj Bhavan.
The members of the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation, and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC Sikkim, Assam Lingzey) express their heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble Governor for granting this unique opportunity and for his continued encouragement of such initiatives that aim to empower and uplift differently-abled individuals. The exposure tour has not only inspired the participants but also reaffirmed the importance of inclusive development in Sikkim.
