CRC Sikkim–PMDK Organises Mega Distribution Camp at Namchi District, Sikkim on 3 December 2025

The Composite Regional Centre (CRC) Sikkim–PMDK, Gangtok, under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, successfully organised a Mega Distribution Camp at Namchi District, Sikkim, from 14th to 21st November 2025. The camp was conducted in joint collaboration with the Sikkim State Cooperative Union (SICUN), reflecting a strong spirit of partnership towards inclusive development and social welfare.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Smt. Raj Kumari Thapa, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker, Sikkim Legislative Assembly, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, in the esteemed presence of Shri Mangaljit Rai, Chairman, SICUN. Senior officials, representatives of local bodies, CRC professionals, volunteers, and members of civil society were also present.

During the week-long camp, assessment, fitting, and distribution of assistive aids and appliances were carried out for Divyangjan (persons with disabilities) and senior citizens, aiming to enhance their functional independence, mobility, and overall quality of life. The initiative reaffirmed CRC Sikkim–PMDK’s commitment to reaching beneficiaries at the grassroots level, especially in remote and underserved areas of the state.

A special highlight of the event was the collective singing of “Vande Mataram” by around 750+ participants, commemorating the 150th anniversary of India’s National Song, creating a moment of unity, patriotism, and national pride.

In continuation of its inclusive outreach activities, CRC Sikkim–PMDK, Gangtok, also celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) at Namcheybong GPU, Pakyong District, by organising an Assessment-cum-Distribution Camp for Divyangjan and senior citizens of the district. The programme focused on early identification of needs, provision of suitable assistive devices, and spreading awareness about disability rights, rehabilitation services, and government welfare schemes.

These initiatives underscore CRC Sikkim–PMDK’s sustained efforts towards empowerment, accessibility, and inclusion, in line with the national vision of Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan and the broader goal of ensuring dignity and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
