02-12-2024: CRC Sikkim empowers Divyangjan through skill training & rehabilitation

GANGTOK, December 2: Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Sikkim today celebrated the International Day for Persons with Disabilities by providing skill training to Divyangjan.
Gangtok assistant collector Sandeep Kumar, the chief guest on the occasion, inaugurated the 70-hour employability skill training programme for Persons with Disabilities at Special School, Siyari.
The centre director, Pushpanjali Gupta, stated that the 70-hour Employability Skill Training Programme for Persons with Disabilities is one of the flagship programs of the Department for the elbow crutches were also Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPWD) (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
A textbook prescribed by DEPWD specifically for the training was provided to the participants. The training is being imparted by CRC Sikkim officials for a period of 70 hours at the school. Participants will also be taken on field trips for maximum exposure to outside agencies for better grooming, informs a PIB release.
Gayatri, in-charge of Special School Siyari, along with staff members, CRC Sikkim officials Farnash Begum, special educator Soboi Aimol, and other dignitaries were present at the occasion. Need-based assistive devices like wheelchairs and distributed to students under the ADIP scheme of DEPWD.
Students of the school brought color and brightness to the program with scintillating performances of dance and songs in Bollywood style and folk culture, both solo and group.
Sandeep Kumar later visited CRC Sikkim office at Assam Lingzey and lauded the efforts made by the center as a premium implementing agency in the field of Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.
As part of the ongoing program on December 3, CRC Sikkim will provide aids and appliances to beneficiaries under the Rashtriya Vayask Yojna (RVY) in the centre premises, the PIB release mentions.
